Eleanor responded quickly, was very welcoming and made sure everything would be ready for our arrival. The house is even nicer than it looks on the pictures! It feels like stepping into the world of the olden days with the low ceilings, exposed beams, narrow steps and wonky corners. It’s very tastefully furnished in-fitting with the quirkiness of the building. You can tell that the owner has put love into it. The location is excellent. We travelled there by train and it was no problem to walk the 10 minutes from the station to the house with suitcase and two children (a 4.5-year-old and a 18-month-old). The toys, highchair and cot were very welcome. We enjoy living in the knowledge that there is this beautiful place just over an hour outside of London.

We had a really lovely time, the cottage was exactly as described. The house had everything you could need for a holiday/short break, it was quiet, super-cosy and spotlessly clean. Deal was very pretty, and the high street is lovely. We would definitely book again.

The cottage is gorgeous and has everything you could need. It is very cosy but has good size rooms and a huge bathroom. Situated down a very picturesque alleyway, it is very close to the sea and centre. It is perfect for a cosy winter weekend break but can imagine it would be even better in the summer.
— Sarah, November 2015
We were all very pleased with, the cottage, it is at the end of a picturesque ‘ally’.
The kitchen in particular was a hit and we all got used to the stairs.
Deal, is a old fashioned seaside place with a good high street and there is a good Pub
just round the corner from the cottage, serving real ale.

This lovely cottage tucked away off Middle Street has everything you need to relax and enjoy exploring Deal and beyond.

I took my 2 nieces to stay in Turnstone Cottage for a little holiday and it was just perfect. Eleanor was so helpful and accessible and the cottage is delightful- we absolutely loved it. It was immaculately clean and full of great features. We loved the spiral staircase and cosy bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we had fun cooking meals and baking too! The location is fabulous- a couple of minutes walk to the sea in one direction and not much more to get to the top end of the town in the other. I’d love to go again sometime and have already raved about it to friends!

This was our third visit to Deal and our first time using Airbnb. Eleanor made the whole process very easy, with instructions sent a couple of weeks before. The cottage was down a lovely little alleyway which made it nice a quite, but near the shops and the seafront. The kitchen was very well equipped and the standard of the towels and bedding very high. Thanks for the tulips, milk and biscuits as a welcome treat.

Turnstone cottage is a delight. We arrived on a Friday and were immediately taken by such a delightful little home displaying so many details of taste and charm. On Saturday Deal gave us the kind of weather you can only get by the sea! Inclement it was; inside we were! Yet, we enjoyed a wonderful day in such cosy well-appointed house. Even my three your old daughter found plenty to do having discovered the toy-box and the spiral stairs. On Sunday we got a real taste of Deal and spent time at the castle and throwing stones on the beach. We all loved it and we all loved returning to the cottage; cooking in the lovely kitchen and resting our weary limbs in the comfiest beds I think I have ever slept in. We will be going again.

We had a lovely time staying at Turnstone. Eleanor was accommodating re: arrival and departure times. The cottage was clean and exactly as described. Eleanor kindly left a night light for the stairs as they were steep (which we knew when we booked). Our two children (3 and 5) loved their room at the top of the house and came down the stairs on their bottoms so all was fine! The location was great and the delicious biscuits waiting for us were an added bonus! Eleanor is a very considerate host - she even emailed me during the stay to give me a severe weather warning. We would definitely stay again.

I want to keep this lovely cottage all to myself! It was quite simply the best place we’ve stayed in years. We loved it so much we’ve already booked it for a future visit. It’s got all the cottage charm you’d want, while stocked with lots of lovely amenities. A gorgeous modern bath and a bright, well stocked kitchen. We cooked every morning - everything we need was to hand. The owner is lovely and communicative. My husband and I love Deal and hope to relocated to there one day - this lovely cottage will be our home-from-home in the meantime. I suppose for some, the steep steps could be an issue but they are bright, with lots of wall handles. Easily negotiated.

We had a wonderful few days staying in this beautiful cottage. It was clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you need. We will definitely be back.

We had such a lovely stay in Deal in Turnstone cottage. A very comfortable and clean house with lots of character and in a delightful quiet setting, minutes from the beach and lovely pubs, shops and restaurants. Eleanor is very friendly and communicated well throughout. It was our first stay in Deal and we can’t wait to return!

My Mum and I had a short break to Deal.
We had a wonderful time.
Deal itself was charming.
We had great weather for October.
Turnstone Cottage was definitely a peaceful haven.
Situated within walking distance of the seafront, pier, restaurants and shops.
We loved the cottage.
Everything was clean comfortable and charming.
The beds were just so comfortable.
Huge bath and shower that worked well.
Beautifully decorated with much elegance.
I would definitely recommend this property and I will return for another stay.
— Tracy, October 2014
We had a wonderful stay at Turnstone Cottage and our only regret is that we didn’t book for a longer visit! The cottage is in our favourite part of Deal, off Middle Street and moments from both the sea and the independent shops in the high street. The cottage itself is very charming, with lots of original architectural features enhanced by calming interior decoration and 19th & 20th century furniture. The house has everything you could need - it’s cosy but bright and has a lovely bathroom and comfortable beds with luxury crisp linen. Eleanor the host was very thoughtful and available by phone if we had any questions or queries. We were made to feel very welcome in what is clearly a well loved home, with fresh milk in the fridge and cookies. A great host! We hope to book again very soon!
— Victoria, October 2014
The house itself is enchanting, with all the amenities, necessities, and niceties one hopes for. It is in a great location, walking distance from everything you might want or need, from the Channel to groceries and pubs. It’s quiet, cosy, and warm. Staying there made me want to chuck my old life and move to Deal.
— Victoria, September 2014
Deal is a charming seaside town that did not fail to meet the needs of the whole family and Turnstone Cottage is the perfect place to stay. Eleanor has thought of everything from beautiful good quality bedding to books for all! We look forward to returning soon.
— Chris, August 2014
The cottage was very well looked after. The modern kitchen was very well equipped , the bathroom was beautiful and the beds were extremely comfortable. A lovely stay. Thank you
— Edwina, July 2014
Had a great two day stay here in June. Cottage is really well equipped and very well appointed. Will be looking to stay here again.
— Marc, June 2014
We really enjoyed it. Eleanor was since the beginning of the reservation very polite and helpful with all our questions. The house is really charming, very close to the beach and Deal’s high street. The house has everything you need. I would definitely stay there again.
— Mira, June 2014
Pictures do not do the cottage justice - it is gorgeous! Comfy beds, white co linen, fab bathroom and everything you need inc some great toys/DVDs for the kids. It’s so close to the beach and some lovely pubs. Stairs very steep, but we got used to them in no time. Kids shared to top room and absolutely loved it! Eleanor was extremely responsive and provided excellent service - thank you so much!
— Sophie, May 2014
Très belle expérience pour un weekend détente. La maison est vraiment très jolie, bien équipée et décorée avec gout. Des fleurs et un excellent gâteau nous attendait sur la table de la cuisine. Merci à Eleanor pour son hospitalité. Je recommande!
— Paola, May 2014
Eleanor was a wonderful host, providing us with lots of helpful information about the area. We absolutely loved the cottage and it’s location..it had everything we needed and perfect for a few cosy nights in after dinner on the sea front. We can’t wait to go back! Anyone wanting to explore the kent coastline, this is a fantastic base and perfect accommodation. Thanks so much Eleanor!
— Anna & Nathan, May 2013
Eleanor is very friendly and helpful! She has got a lovely and charming cottage, we really loved it! We like to come back here some time and we really recommend this to other people.
— Thérèse, May 2014
We booked for 3 nights with our little dog. The cottage is truly magical and has everything you need to make your stay perfect, comfortable and very hard to leave! Location was so central to Deal town amenities and sea. Also, unlike some of the other cottages we stayed at, the cottage is tucked away at the end of a pedestrianised mews-like alley. Neighbours are very friendly and we found the owner was contactable when we had any queries. Excellent value for money and we can’t wait to go back again!

Turnstone Cottage was the perfect retreat - for a couple wanting a peaceful weekend away as we did, or equally we could have taken our two children who would have loved the twin room in the eaves, the beach at the end of the street, the fish and chips, ice creams and riding their bikes along the prom. Without the children, we had breakfast at The Allotment cafe a few minutes walk away in the old, quaint part of Deals award winning high street - sitting outside listening to a busker and people watching. It was a bustling day with the Saturday vintage and food market and all the lovely vintage homeward shops to explore. There are two lovely old pubs within a minutes walk of the cottage and we sat in the small pretty sun trap of a garden of one and read the paper over a pint. We borrowed Eleanor’s bikes both days and cycled for miles In both directions - to lovely Kingsdown and then on to St Margaret’s Bay one day and to Sandwich the other. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very stylish, the bed was big and comfy, the bathroom luxurious and the kitchen fully equipped. It’s location in Deals old picturesque Georgian streets, tucked down a passage yards from the beach was magical. It was one if the best weekends we’ve had.
— Graeme, April 2014
I can’t speak highly enough of this lovely cottage. The photo’s really don’t do the place justice - the décor and furniture are beautiful and only add to the charm. It was so clean and there was everything we needed for our long weekend. We felt so at home we stayed in more than we had originally planned especially as the back garden is a great sun trap - perfect for sitting with a glass of wine! Deal itself is a lovely place - lots of independent shops. Some great vintage furniture shops & antique stalls - had we been in a car and not on our bikes I would hate to think how much I would have tried to bring back to London. The roads and lanes that surround the cottage are so quaint you feel like you’ve stepped back in time (especially when there are no cars parked in site). We cycled up the coast most days, found some great pubs in both nearby Sandwich and Kingsdown. Eleanor has been extremely helpful from day one - very communicative and pleasant. We were welcomed by fresh flowers and cakes - a brilliant hostess! We are already planning when we can book again. Thanks for having us! x

Newly rennovated mews cottage just off the sea front - great location and really comfortable accommodation, with a bathroom to die for. Perfect weekend getaway.
— Helen, March 2014
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe Turnstone Cottage. It is simply gorgeous. It has everything you need for a relaxing comfortable break in stylish surroundings. You’ll love how peaceful it is, how comfortable the beds are, how fabulous the huge bathroom is, how sweet the garden is. And lovely Eleanor herself really goes the extra mile to make sure you’ve every you need. Deal was a real surprise too, it’s got some great shops, fantastic restaurants and the beach too of course, which are all so close by. I can’t rate my experience with Eleanor and Turnstone Cottage highly enough.
— Kirsty, March 2014
Eleanor looked after us so well when we visited her lovely cottage last weekend. It was just as described and she has filled it with lovely touches to look after everyone. Eleanor even set up a little bed for our toddler right next to the superbly comfortable one we slept in. We would definitely go back. Our host, the cottage and Deal were all top notch. Thanks Eleanor!

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful weekend break in Deal, staying in Turnstone Cottage. The cottage itself is located at the end of a short, very quaint track, allowing pedestrian access only. So quiet, so calm, so peaceful…(as was the entire weekend.) The cottage catered for our every need-including 2 bikes; this was such a bonus because it was so easy to ride along the seafront. I can quite honestly say that the owner, Eleanor, sounds like one of the nicest people I have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble and she even left a birthday cake and candle for my husband’s birthday on Friday. Eleanor’s communication skills were superb-something I rate very highly indeed. I cannot recommend this gem of a cottage highly enough. It truly is 50 metres from both beach and town and fabulous restaurants are within 5 minutes’ walk. It is in a picturesque, predominantly Georgian part of town and all the old buildings are absolutely fascinating. I cannot wait to plan my return visit. The photos really do not do the cottage true justice.
